Remaining in God’s Presence
“And He said, ‘My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’” - Exodus 33:14
What are you doing while you are waiting on God? It is a question seldom asked, but extremely important to answer. Many people think of waiting as a passive action. They think God handles it and you sit back and live life; and whenever He wants to fulfill His promise, you’ll be there.
But the truth is, you play a part too. While God is the orchestrator in the situation, He also prepares you during that time. He wants our character, faith, and wisdom to grow before He blesses us.
So, what do we do while we wait? We must remain in God’s presence. Yesterday, we talked about a woman in Luke 2 who lived an unenviable life. Her name was Anna, and she was all the things society looked down upon.
Yet she was faithful to God and still chose to believe Him. How was she able to do this? She remained in the presence of God. Luke 2:37-38 says, “...She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of Him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.”
When you remain in God’s presence, He will give you the patience to wait. Exodus 33:14 says, “And He said, ‘My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’”
Life isn’t always favorable. Sometimes, circumstances are hard, and we must wait on God to act. But we don’t have to have everything go our way to remain in God’s presence and remain purposefully busy during those time.
Anyone can be grateful for the good things. What about when life is challenging, and you are waiting on God’s deliverance? This is when you need Him the most. While you are waiting, make sure you are remaining in God’s presence. This is how you will be able to remain patient until His fulfillment comes.
