Rest In God’s Will
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” - Matthew 11:28
As you wait on God to deliver His promise, you must remain in His Word, you must eliminate fear, and you must focus on His way. All of these are things you must do while waiting. But there is one more thing you must do, and that is rest in His will. See, while there are things you must actively do, you must also do something a little more passive, and that is rest. While you are resting, God is working. He doesn’t need you. He will do what He has promised. He wants you to rest while He works.
So stop tapping your toe and fidgeting your fingers. Stop watching the clock as if God is obligated to move on our time. Sit back and wait on Him because whenever He moves, it’ll be on time. What is important about God’s message to Abram in Genesis 15 is the assurance God gives him. That assurance enabled Abram to rest in God’s will.
Something seems to happen when the Lord reminds Abram of His way. There appears to be a shift that occurs in Genesis 15:6 as it says, “And Abram believed the Lord.” The verse does not mean that Abram just started believing in God. Instead, it means that amidst all the distractions, the disappointments, the bad decisions, and the delays along the way, Abram still believed in God.
Do you still believe? Maybe God is taking His sweet time in delivering you what He promised. Do not fidget waiting on Him. Do not consume yourself with thinking and wondering what He is doing. And do not try to make it happen yourself. Allow God to work His way in His time frame. And while He is working, rest in His will.
