Room For a Miracle
“God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.” - Hebrews 2:4
In March of 2004, almost four dozen Boy Scouts and their scout leaders found themselves trapped inside a manmade cave in Utah when a wall of snow buried the entrances to the cave.
The avalanche was heard nearby by a group of scout leaders who called 911. Many Boy Scouts were sleeping and didn’t even know what was happening until they were startled by the rescuers. It was a miracle that not all the scout leaders were in the cave; they not only heard the avalanche but were able to identify where the caves were to send help.
Jesus performed many miracles in the Bible, including turning water into wine (John 2:1-11), healing the paralytic at the pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-15), feeding 5,000 (John 6:5-14), walking on water (John 6:16-24), and raising Lazarus from the dead (John 11:1-45). In these scenarios, Jesus showed his ability to bring joy, heal, provide, guide, and resurrect.
Often we see these miracles as “nice stories” or something that happens to others. But we don’t believe that the same God who performs miracles in the lives of others has the power to perform miracles in our lives.
In Luke 18:27, Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” God has the power to change mindsets, change situations, and change behaviors in an instant. However, that is not always his goal. We can become angry and frustrated when God hasn’t moved. But the fact is that He is making moves all day every day.
The miracle may not be some grand act. The miracles may be in everyday occurrences. God is still bringing joy, healing, providing, guiding, and resurrecting. Angels are working on your behalf to protect and keep you in His will. There is always room for a miracle as long as God is present.
