It's A Heart Thing
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
If you were to read through the story of the sanctuary being built in the book of Exodus, one pattern shows up again and again. God did not command everyone to give. He invited those whose hearts were stirred. Not everyone gave. But the miracle came through those who did. It was a heart thing.
That truth matters more than we often realize. Because so many people give their time, their money, their energy, even their attention, not out of love, but out of guilt. Not because they are moved, but because they feel obligated. And that is never what God wanted. The entire point of this offering was not about obligation. It was about heart. The ones who responded did so freely, not because they were forced, but because something inside them said, I want to be a part of what God is building.
If God had wanted to, He could have required an offering from every person. He could have made it a law, a rule, a demand. But instead, He simply said, “Bring it if your heart is willing.” And when they did, it unlocked something bigger than they could have imagined. They brought so much that Moses had to tell them to stop.
This tells us something powerful. The key to unlocking God’s abundance in your life is not found in your effort alone. It is tied to the posture of your heart. When your heart is aligned with His will and your spirit is open to be used, you begin to see just how much God can do with a willing vessel.
The question is not just, “What can you give?” The real question is, “What is your heart ready to say yes to?” Because the people who see the fullness of God’s provision are not always the strongest or the wealthiest. They are the ones who are most convinced in their hearts. And when that happens, giving becomes a joy, not a job. It becomes a response to grace, not a requirement to earn it.
And that is where the miracle always begins.
