A Sense of Burden
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." – Matthew 11:28-30
Have you been burdened by life’s trials and tribulations? Are you living for the future, robbing you of today’s joys? Part of Cameron M. Scott’s poem “In the Meantime” reads, “The future always holds a promise. A goal, a dream, something that gives us hope, something that helps us cope. The moon and stars eternally wait. And of course, there is always heaven’s gate. But if you live your life waiting for something to come around, you will miss the special moments and the people that surround.”
The distance between where we are and where we want to be is what is called “the meantime.” We must be willing to trust the process if we want to see the promise. Everything you are doing (or feel as though you are not doing) and everything you are becoming is being created in the present. Your job, your living situation, your relationships, everything is working for your good because it is growing you into a stronger human being. You are here reading this for a reason.
You have greatness that is being birthed, but you must hold on a little longer. Choose to see that sense of burden as God trusting you to handle a battle that others are not designed to. Tomorrow will always look more appealing until we learn to enjoy today. You must remember that today is pregnant with many possibilities! You must train your mind to see the positive and not the negative. God is working on your behalf always!
