Where Are You God?
“But Abram said, ‘Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus? You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.’ Then the word of the Lord came to him: ‘This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.’ He took him outside and said, ‘Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them, so shall your offspring be.” - Genesis 15:2-4
Yesterday we discussed Abram and the predicament in which he finds himself in Genesis 15. He is questioning God, wondering if God will come through and deliver the promises He gave to Abram. The answers did not appear to be anywhere in sight. So, Abram is left wondering, “Where are you God?”
In the first couple of verses of Genesis 15, Abram cries out to God wondering who will inherit his estate. He questions this because he knows God has promised him a son to inherit his estate, but that son has yet to be born and Abram is questioning if God will show up and do what He promised. The Lord answers Abram, telling him not only will he have the son, but that he should “look up at the sky and count the stars. If indeed you can count them, so shall your offspring be.”
Many times, we wonder where God is. He is not only working in our favor, but He is working to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” That is the type of God He is. He’s an “immeasurably more” kind of God, as we read about in Ephesians 3:20.
So, the next time you feel the waiting time is wasting time, remember that time spent waiting on God is never fruitless. He is using everything for your benefit.
