He Can Handle It
“O Lord, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughing stock all the day; everyone mocks me. For whenever I speak, I cry out, I shout, ‘Violence and destruction!’ For the word of the Lord has become for me a reproach and derision all day long.” - Jeremiah 20:7-8
Have you ever been frustrated with God? You prayed for something, and you felt as though your prayers weren’t answered, or they weren’t answered in the way that you expected.
You are not alone, in the book of Jeremiah, the prophet was called to save Judah and Jerusalem from destruction. Jeremiah was frustrated with God because the people chose their false prophets and idolatrous ways over Jeremiah’s warning.
Jeremiah, recognizing God’s presence, but not God’s power, did not understand why he would be placed in a situation to “fail.” The people would not change their ways because they were unwilling to change their hearts. And he was facing treason for his honesty about their destruction.
Jeremiah went to God regarding his frustrations, but he did not give up hope that better days were coming. And you too should not give up hope. Talk to God.
God wants you to tell Him how you feel. He is your Heavenly Father. He doesn’t just want you to come to Him when things are going your way. He wants to hear all your concerns.
Tell God how you feel and allow Him to speak to you through prayer, His word, and His messengers. When you share your frustration with Him, He will respond. There is not one situation that isn’t under His dominion. Whatever it is, He can handle it!
