Remember Your Past
“For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains sacrifice for sins.” - Hebrews 10:26
As we continue to look at your story, we must understand why it is important to share that story. Everyone has a story to tell. And God wants you to share your story! You never know who is listening and who needs to hear exactly what you have been through and how you came out of it.
There are many reasons God has given us a story to tell. Yesterday, we looked at the first reason: to remember the shoulders on which we stand. Today, we look at the second reason: to remember our past.
Now, you might be asking, “Why do I need to remember my past? My story had some dark and difficult times that I just don’t want to revisit.”
I am not saying you must revisit all of the painful times in your life. But I want you to remember where you were and what caused that pain. Not all difficult times are a result of sin. Sometimes even in our obedience, God allows us to go through difficult circumstances.
However, even when the pain is self-inflicted, remembering the past will help us to not make those decisions and go down those roads again.
While you may be out of that time of your life, remember what caused those tough times. When you remember what caused them and how you felt during those moments, it is a great reminder not to fall back into the same sin.
Hebrews 10:26 says, “For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains sacrifice for sins.”
Don’t go back! Remember your past and allow it to be a guide of what not to do moving forward.
