Go Get Them Back
"Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter." – Proverbs 24:11
There are people you love who are not where they should be. Some of them are trapped in addiction. Some are buried in shame. Some have walked away from their faith, from their family, or from who they used to be. Maybe you have watched them spiral and wondered if there is anything you can do. Maybe you have even considered giving up.
But let me tell you something you need to remember today. Just because they are stuck does not mean they are gone. Just because they are in bondage does not mean they are beyond reach. And just because they are not listening right now does not mean you stop loving them. Abram’s nephew Lot made a series of decisions that got him in trouble, but when he was taken captive, Abram did not sit back and say, “Well, that’s what he gets.” He went after him. He fought to get him back.
This kind of love is not passive. It does not give up when things get hard. It does not write people off just because they have made some mistakes. This kind of love is relentless. It intercedes. It prays. It shows up. And it goes into the enemy’s camp to take back what has been stolen.
If someone you care about is lost in sin or bound by something that is destroying them, do not walk away. Ask God for strength. Ask Him for wisdom. And go fight for them in prayer. Show up with grace and truth. Keep believing for their freedom even when they are not. They may not know how to get out, but you know how to bring Jesus into the middle of it.
God has not given up on them, and neither should you. That is the heart of the Gospel. Jesus did not wait for us to fix ourselves. He came after us. He pursued us when we were lost. Now He invites us to love others the same way.
Who do you need to go get back? Name them. Pray for them. And be willing to go after them. You may be the one God uses to bring them home.
