Worry: A Mirror of Trust
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” - Proverbs 3:5
Worry is a common human experience, yet it serves as a revealing mirror, reflecting the areas in our lives where we trust God the least. When we worry, we are essentially saying that there’s an aspect of our life that we don’t fully entrust to God.
Worry implies a lack of trust in God’s sovereignty and goodness. It suggests that we believe our problems are bigger than God’s power or that our circumstances are beyond His control. It indicates that we doubt His ability to provide for our needs, protect us from harm, or work things out for our good.
However, this perspective is contrary to what the Bible teaches us about God. Scripture assures us that God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving. It reminds us that He cares for us deeply and is actively involved in every detail of our lives. It promises that He can use even the most challenging situations for our good and His glory.
Instead of worrying, God calls us to trust Him fully. He invites us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). He encourages us to seek His kingdom first, promising that He will take care of all our needs (Matthew 6:33). He assures us that when we trust in Him with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding, He will make our paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Starting right now, I want to challenge you to use worry as a tool for self-examination. Identify the areas of your life where worry is prevalent and intentionally choose to trust God in those areas. Our Heavenly Father is trustworthy and faithful. He is more than capable of handling your worries, fears, and uncertainties.
When worry creeps in, let it be a reminder to surrender more fully to God’s care and control. Trust in Him completely, for He is utterly trustworthy.

It is in troubling situations God is made strong in our weakness. Be encouraged to keep on keeping on and hold His unchanging hand!
