Someone May Be Watching
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” – John 13: 34
If you are a follower of Christ, you have an obligation. That obligation is to draw others to Christ. The Bible says to “love one another.” There are countless verses that instruct us to reach out to those who do not know the love of Christ, and to share that love with them.
Yet so many believers do not feel equipped. They think, “someone else will do it. Someone else will reach them or talk to them.” The problem is, if all of us had that attitude, who would reach the helpless and the hopeless?
God does not call those who are equipped. He equips those who are called. Why? Because He has instilled something in each and every one us that mirrors His love. You do not need to be a biblical scholar to share the Good News about Jesus Christ. You do not need to have unlimited time and resources to volunteer or assist someone in need.
Our lives are often a testament to the One we serve. When you praise God, when you pray, when you help others, when you refrain from saying something negative and/or hurtful to others, someone may be watching. When you have unspeakable joy in the midst of trying circumstances. Someone may be watching. And when they ask you how you are able to do what you do, you can turn them to Jesus.
So the next time that you feel the need to ignore your brother or sister in Christ or say something negative, remember someone may be watching. And remember that God is always watching.
