Can’t Do It Alone
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor; if either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” - Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
As we highlighted yesterday, if you want to accomplish God’s purpose for your life –whether that is in your career, your relationships, or your finances – if you want to experience the breakthrough or comeback God has in store for you, then there is one thing you must understand: You can’t do it alone.
For some of you, that might be a hard pill to swallow. You might be an independent person, used to doing everything on your own. You might have had your trust broken at some point, and your defense mechanism kicks in, so you just prefer to do things alone.
But that is not what God intended for your life. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 gives us clear insight into the importance of relationships.
The passage says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor; if either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Two are better than one. And a three-strand cord is not easily broken. God has an amazing plan for your life. But you aren’t going to be able to accomplish that plan on your own. You can’t do it alone.
Ask God to reveal those He wants to join you through this journey of life! Not only will He show you those people, but He will place them in your life at just the right time. Don’t go at it alone. Two are better than one!
