Consult God First
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” - Jeremiah 29:13
When you are making changes in your life, who is the first person you go to? Is it yourself as you rationalize your situation in your own understanding? Is it a parent, friend, spouse, coworker, or stranger? Is God the first stop or the last stop when you are looking for help?
I heard a story of a young basketball player, named Maori Davenport, who was rendered ineligible to play for her senior season by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) due to USA Basketball mistakenly sending her a paycheck after she competed for the program.
Instead of getting hot-headed, Davenport leaned on her faith. Her mother was the one to instill this reliance and she said, “I have always told Maori to glorify God with her talents, and she will never go wrong.” Remaining calm, her family decided to take legal action. Long story short, she was able to play, continued to succeed, and is now rated as a rare five-star prospect in the class of 2024 for University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
We don’t always understand why we go through what we go through. However, we have a God who cares and who wants to be the first one we come to when we need clarity.
God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways higher than our ways. He can help us navigate the world before we get too angry, too frustrated, and too arrogant. He wants the best for us.
We must learn to consult God first and see what He wants us to do. I promise it will save a lot of pain and headache in the long run when we trust His will and follow His plan.

Very, very True and warning I most often violate. But when I remember to ask and wait for God to direct me I've notice the situation greatly improves. To God be the Glory
