He Sees You
“The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and His ears toward their cry.” - Psalm 34:15
Yesterday we discussed the story of a young boy who was visibly frustrated at his father for not being able to get his way, so much so that he told his father, “I hate you.” But the father didn’t respond with anger. Instead, he did three things that stood out to me. He demonstrated to his son the following, “I SEE YOU, I’M SECURING YOU, and I’M SHOWING YOU.” These three things are exactly what God does for us when we get frustrated at him.
Over the next three days, we are going to look at these three phrases and how God’s amazing love is magnified even when we are unhappy with Him. When you first become frustrated with God, He lets you know that HE SEES YOU.
One of the many names of God is El Roi, which is Hebrew for “The God who sees me.” We discover this name is Genesis 16:9-14 when Hagar finds out she is pregnant and an angel of the Lord tells her to name her child Ishmael because the Lord saw her misery. Hagar recognizes that the Lord sees her and names her first child Ishmael.
There are other reminders in the Bible, recognizing that God sees you. Psalm 34:15 says, “The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and His ears toward their cry.” This shows the intimacy God has with you. Hebrews 4:13 reminds us, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.” God is omniscient (all-knowing), which means that He has complete knowledge of your circumstance. There are over 8 billion people on the planet, but God sees your unique situation, and He sees how you are handling the situation.
When you feel alone or unseen, remember that God is with you. You are not alone. Focus on your blessings and always remember that God Sees You!
