Are You Complacent?
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits.” - James 1:2-4
Are you content with your relationship with God? Often, in difficult situations, we as believers are quick to turn to God. We will pray, read the Word, and go to church. We will look for any answer possible to help fix our troubles.
But what about when life is going well? Do you run to God as fervently when circumstances are not as difficult? Yesterday, we talked about the downfall of the company, Blackberry. They used to dominate the cell phone market until they refused to evolve. They had become lukewarm and relied on the success of their past, which was their ultimate downfall.
While our past helps to shape us, we cannot stay stuck there because we will miss out on the things that God is currently trying to do in our lives. It can be difficult to move forward out of fear, anxiety, or stubbornness. However, James chapter one reminds us that we cannot forget all of God’s benefits.
We serve a God of abundance and there is more that He has in store for you. Have you done an audit on your spiritual life? In the good times and bad, are you willing to pray, worship and obey God’s will for your life?
No matter where you are in your relationship with God, His will is never for you to stay stagnant. He wants you to stay committed to growing in your relationship with Him, and developing your faith, which is a lifelong process. Do not become content with “just good” because what the Lord has for you is so much more!
