The Hands and Feet of Christ
“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” - 1 Corinthians 12:27
The Bible includes so many verses calling the Church and its members “the body of Christ.” When Jesus died, He called us to be His hands and feet, as He returned to the Father in heaven. When Jesus left Earth, He gave His followers the gift of the Holy Spirit. If you are a follower of Christ, the Holy Spirit resides in you now and until the end of time.
The Holy Spirit is well known for such things as giving you a conscience, helping you determine right from wrong, and teaching you God’s truths. While all of these tasks are vitally important, the Holy Spirit is also responsible for helping you determine God’s will for your life and how He wants you to serve Him. In other words, how can you be the hands and feet of Christ in your own domain?
While you might not be the pastor of a church, or a worship leader, this does not mean you cannot serve God with the gifts and talents you already have. God has given every person abilities they can use to serve others. He gives musical talent, athleticism, discernment, organizational skills, entrepreneurial capabilities, and all of the skills you will need to perform and master your chosen craft.
God does not desire for everyone to have the same role, and their ministry does not always have to be in the church. God wants you to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever you are. The reality is many people do not attend church, but this does not mean God does not intend to reach these people where they already are. He will use you to do just that. Make sure you are using your abilities, gifts, and talents to be the hands and feet of Christ.
