Reclaim What Was Taken
"When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, 318 of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan." – Genesis 14:14
There are seasons in life when something gets taken from you. Not physically kidnapped like in a movie, but emotionally, mentally, spiritually. Peace, joy, security, clarity, maybe even someone you loved or trusted. And when that happens, you face a decision. Will you accept the loss and stay stuck in it? Or will you rise up and go after what was taken?
Abram faced that exact crossroads. Lot, his own nephew, had been caught in the middle of chaos and taken by the enemy. Abram could have shrugged it off, called it too dangerous, or let fear convince him it wasn’t worth it. But he didn’t. He gathered what he had, and he moved. He went after what mattered. And because he moved, God gave him the strength and strategy to win.
What about you? What have you lost that you’ve grown too used to living without? Maybe it’s a lot of peace. A lot of passion. A lot of purpose. Maybe the enemy came in quietly and started stealing your confidence. Or maybe it was sudden and brutal, and now you don’t even know where to begin picking up the pieces.
Here is the truth: you will not get back what was taken by sitting still. You have to make a decision. Like Abram, you have to gather yourself and go. Maybe that looks like calling a counselor. Maybe it’s having a hard conversation you’ve been avoiding. Maybe it’s opening your Bible again or walking into a church when you feel like hiding. But whatever it looks like, it will require action. Reclaiming what was stolen means stepping into the fight.
God never said we wouldn’t take hits in life. But He did say we don’t fight alone. He is with us. He strengthens us. And He helps us recover what we never thought we’d get back. That peace? That fire? That joy? It is not gone forever. But you will have to move. You will have to rise. You will have to believe again.
Is there something the enemy took from you that you’ve been too afraid or too tired to chase after? Then maybe this is your moment to stand up and fight for it. Not in your own strength, but with the God who restores all things.
