You’re Not the Wrong Person
"But Moses said to God, Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt? He said, But I will be with you." - Exodus 3:11-12
When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses didn’t jump up and say yes with confidence. He hesitated. He doubted. He asked, “Who am I?” That one question reveals how small and unqualified he felt. After all, Moses wasn’t a king or a warrior. He was an exile himself, living in the wilderness and tending sheep for his father-in-law.
And that’s exactly who God picked. This part of the story is a reminder that God doesn’t call the ready. He prepares the willing. Moses didn’t think he had what it took, and maybe by earthly standards, he didn’t. But God never needed Moses to be perfect. He just needed him to trust that He would go with him.
How many times have you felt that same doubt rise up when you sensed God pulling you toward something big? How many times have you told yourself you’re not the right one for the job? That you’re too flawed, too broken, too unsure?
But here’s the truth. God isn’t looking for people with perfect résumés. He’s looking for people who will lean on Him when they feel overwhelmed. Moses said, “Who am I?” And God didn’t answer with a list of Moses’ strengths. He simply said, “I will be with you.” That’s all Moses needed, and it’s all you need, too.
You might not feel equipped. You might not see how it all works out. But if God is calling you to it, He will carry you through it. What disqualified you in your own eyes might be the very thing God uses to prove His power.
So stop letting fear keep you from walking in what God is calling you to do. If He picked Moses, He can absolutely use you. You’re not the wrong person. You’re just the next one He’s choosing to lead.
