God Desires Relationship
"Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God." - 2 Corinthians 7:1
In the Scriptures, God repeatedly expresses His desire to be in relationship with His people. He longs to dwell with us, protect us, deliver us, reconcile us, and adopt us into His family. This consistent message underscores the depth of God's love and His relentless pursuit of a meaningful connection with humanity.
From the beginning of time, God has sought to define the contours of His relationship with those who desire to be in fellowship with Him. Each covenant, each promise, serves as a testament to His unwavering commitment to His people. It is His way of extending an invitation to intimacy and communion, inviting us to experience the fullness of His presence and grace.
What sets the New Covenant apart from the Old Covenant is the basis of our relationship with God. Under the Old Covenant, people were believed to be made righteous or justified based on their actions and adherence to the law. However, in the New Covenant ushered in by Jesus Christ, our righteousness and salvation are not earned through our efforts but are gifts of God's grace.
In the New Covenant, our relationship with God is founded on what He has done for us, not on what we can do for Him. It is a relationship marked by grace, mercy, and unconditional love. God's desire to be with us is not contingent on our performance or merit but flows from His unchanging character and boundless affection for His children.
As we reflect on God's heart for relationship, let us respond with gratitude and awe. Let us purify ourselves from anything that hinders intimacy with Him, striving to live lives that honor and glorify His name. And let us embrace the New Covenant, resting in the assurance that our righteousness and salvation are secured by the finished work of Christ on the cross.
Open your heart to His love, His grace, and His presence, knowing that in Him, you find true fulfillment and eternal joy. You should walk in the freedom and assurance of the New Covenant, basking in the beauty of God's unfailing love.
