Give Up “The Good”
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” - Galatians 6:9
John D. Rockefeller said, “Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.” If you want to be successful, this quote should be something you continuously turn back to in your walk with Christ.
Your faith journey, your pursuit of what Jesus has in store for you, is tied directly to what Mr. Rockefeller said. Far too many believers (and humans for that matter) undermine their future because they give up the great for the “good.”
We care more about what we want in a specific moment than what we want most. Sometimes, we suffer the consequences to the point that we miss out on what we want most. We miss out on the GREAT chasing the “good.”
The problem is, the “good,” isn’t always what it says it is. “Good” might seem or even feel good in a moment, but it doesn’t lead to “good” in the long run. What we think of as “good” is just what Satan appeals to us in a moment, what appeals to our flesh.
However, what is GREAT is what God has in store for us down the road. It is delayed gratification that we will never regret waiting for. Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
God has GREAT in store for you. The life, the blessings, and the rewards are far greater than Satan or anyone else on this earth can promise. They might offer something that sounds “good,” but do not be fooled.
Give up the good and chase the great. You will be rewarded for it.
