The Urgency Of Now
“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." - Matthew 9:37–38
Jesus spoke these words when He saw crowds of people who were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Today, millions of people are harassed by economic systems that trap them in poverty and debt, and helpless to change policies that prioritize wealth over wellbeing.
The harvest field includes not just individual hearts but systemic transformation that addresses root causes of suffering. We need workers who will engage in political advocacy, policy research, and community organizing to bring about the changes our faith demands.
The urgency is real: people are dying from lack of healthcare, students are abandoning their dreams due to debt, and families are becoming homeless despite working full-time jobs. The gospel calls us to respond with both personal ministry and systemic change.
God is calling workers into the harvest field of economic justice. Will you answer that call?
Prayer:
Lord of the harvest, send me as a worker into the field of economic justice, equipped to address both individual needs and systemic problems. Amen.
