In Spite of Praise
"I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall continually be in my mouth" - Psalm 34:1
Not everything has to be perfect for praise to be real. In fact, some of the most powerful praise you will ever give happens in the middle of the mess. When your questions are louder than your answers. When the breakthrough has not come yet. When your heart is still aching and the road ahead is still unclear. That kind of praise is different. It is deeper. And it is defiant.
Anybody can praise when the healing comes. Anybody can worship when the provision shows up or the miracle unfolds. But what about when nothing has changed? What about when the mountain is still in front of you, the pressure is still heavy, and the storm is still raging? Can you still say, God, You are good?
This is the kind of praise that silences the enemy. The kind that tells hell it did not win. Because when your life says, I will praise anyway, you are making a bold declaration of faith. You are saying that your gratitude is not dependent on your circumstances. You are choosing to trust that even if you do not see the whole picture, God is still working behind the scenes.
Sometimes the enemy’s strategy is not to destroy you, but to distract you from giving God glory. He wants you so focused on what is not right that you miss what is still good. But when you stop and lift up praise in the middle of the pain, you are saying, I still know who holds my future. I still believe He is worthy. I still have a reason to worship.
Maybe today the breakthrough hasn’t happened. Maybe your heart still feels broken. But even now, you have something to lift your hands about. You are still here. God has not left you. His grace is still covering you. And even if all you can say is thank you for breath in your lungs, let that be enough to start. Praise is not just for the peaceful seasons. Praise is for the battle. And when you give it in spite of everything, it hits different.
