The Power of Preparation
"Prepare your work outside, get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house." – Proverbs 24:27
Let’s be real: Everybody wants the breakthrough. Everybody wants the success story. But not everybody wants to do the preparation. We live in a culture that celebrates the highlight reel but forgets the hard work behind the scenes. Scripture tells a different story. God moves through preparation.
Think about it. David didn’t become a warrior the day he fought Goliath. He was already prepared from tending sheep and fighting off lions and bears. Noah didn’t build the ark overnight. He followed detailed instructions, step by step, long before the first drop of rain ever fell. Even Jesus, before stepping into His public ministry, spent years growing, learning, and preparing in private.
What are you doing with your preparation season? Are you using this time to build your foundation, sharpen your skills, and deepen your faith? Or are you just waiting around for the big moment, hoping it all falls into place? The truth is, if God gave you the platform before the preparation, it would crush you. But when you’ve built your life on obedience, discipline, and humility, you can carry the weight of the calling.
Preparation is not punishment. It’s protection. God uses it to develop your character, clarify your purpose, and strengthen your resolve. When He sees that you’ve done the work, He can trust you with more.
Don’t get discouraged. You’re not being overlooked. You’re being equipped. Use this time wisely. Read the Word with depth. Build the habits that will sustain you. Grow in ways no one else sees.
Because when the opportunity comes, it will be too late to prepare. And the ones who are ready are the ones who rise.
