Get in the Game
"But Jesus came and touched them, saying, Rise, and have no fear. And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only." – Matthew 17:7-8
The mountaintop moments are real. When God moves in power, when His presence fills the room, when the Spirit feels close, and everything in you wants to stay in that moment forever. Those are the moments that remind you why your faith matters. But here’s the truth we cannot afford to miss. The purpose of the mountain is not to stay there. It is to come back down with power and purpose.
Right after Jesus is transfigured on the mountain and reveals His glory to a few of His closest disciples, He doesn’t build a shrine or organize a worship night. He leads them back down. And waiting at the bottom is a hurting father and a desperate child. There’s a problem that the rest of the disciples couldn’t fix, and Jesus steps in, not distracted by what just happened on the mountain, but focused on what needs to happen in the valley.
That is what spiritual maturity looks like. Worship isn’t meant to be a hiding place. It’s meant to be a launching pad. If being in God’s presence doesn’t make you more compassionate, more courageous, and more willing to serve, then you’ve missed the point.
There is a world waiting. Hungry hearts. Broken families. Deep injustice. And while we need the mountain to be filled, we are called to the valley to make a difference. Church can’t just be about great services and personal experiences. It has to be about stepping onto the field and using what God gave you to bring light to dark places.
Now is not the time to sit in the stands or stay on the bench. You have something to offer. You have a role to play. And God is calling you to get off the mountain and get into the game. So get up, get moving, and let the strength you gained in worship fuel the impact you're called to make in the world.
