God Moves First
"Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt." - Exodus 3:10
Before Moses ever spoke a word to Pharaoh, before a single plague hit Egypt or a step was taken toward the Red Sea, God had already made the first move. He came to Moses. He lit up that bush. He initiated the conversation. He set the plan in motion.
That might sound simple, but it’s a huge part of how God works. He does not wait for us to figure it out or pull it together before He steps in. He moves first.
For 400 years, the Israelites suffered. They probably wondered if God was listening, if He still cared, or if He had given up on them altogether. But He had not forgotten. He had a plan, and He stepped into the life of an unsure, unqualified man on the backside of a mountain to put that plan in motion.
That should speak directly to us today. Because when you are tired, stuck, or confused, it can feel like it’s all on you. Like the pressure is on your shoulders to fix it, to figure it out, to make your way forward. But this story reminds us that God does not wait on our strength. He starts with His.
God moved toward Moses with a mission, and He still moves toward you. He does not need perfect conditions. He does not need you to be impressive. He just needs you to be available.
So if you feel like nothing is changing or that God is distant, remember this moment in Moses’ life. God showed up when Moses least expected it and gave him more than just a task. He gave him purpose. And He still does the same thing today.
You may not see the whole picture yet. You may feel unsure about what comes next. But you can rest in this—God moves first. And if He is stirring something in you, it is not random. It is the start of something He is already working out.
