Time for a New Playbook
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." - Jeremiah 29:11
Most people thought the Eagles were done. A few years ago, they were a joke in their division, just barely hanging on to a winning record and miles away from looking like a contender. The team was stuck, spinning its wheels, with no clear direction and no real identity. It was hard to imagine anything changing. But then it did. Four years later, they were in the Super Bowl. Twice.
So what changed?
They got a new quarterback, sure. They signed a few strong players, yes. But the biggest shift, according to those who study this stuff, was that they updated their playbook. The old one had them running around with no plan. Just reacting. No vision. No identity. And when you do not know who you are or what you are about, winning is almost impossible.
That hits home, does it not?
So many of us go through life doing exactly what that team was doing. Just responding to things as they come. Getting through the day. Getting by. We might even have some gifts and talents, but without a clear direction, we stay stuck. We keep coming up short and we wonder why we cannot get over the hump.
Maybe what you need is not a new job or a new relationship. Maybe you need a new playbook. Maybe you need to get back in touch with what God has called you to be. Maybe the confusion in your life is not because God left you, but because you stopped following His plan and started winging it on your own.
God’s playbook is not confusing. It does not change with the season. It gives you purpose, identity, and a clear direction forward. If your life feels scattered, it might be time to stop reacting and start living with some intentionality again.
Because the truth is, you are not supposed to leave this season empty-handed. Not if you are following the right plan.
