The Power of the Blood
"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace." - Ephesians 1:7
All through Scripture, there is a clear theme. God cares deeply when His people are in bondage. Whether it was the Israelites in Egypt or any person today weighed down by fear, sin, past wounds, or addictions, God’s heart has always been to set His people free.
In the story of the Exodus, the first nine plagues shook Egypt but never softened Pharaoh’s heart. It was not until the tenth plague and the covering of the blood over the doorposts that freedom finally came. That moment teaches us something powerful. When all other efforts fail, it is the blood that brings deliverance.
Why blood? Because blood represents life. God designed blood to be the very thing that sustains us. In Genesis and Leviticus, we see God teaching His people that life is found in the blood. That is why He used it as a sign of both protection and redemption.
For the Israelites, the lamb’s blood over their homes saved them from death. For us as believers, the blood of Jesus saves us from the grip of sin and offers forgiveness, healing, and freedom. Hebrews tells us that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.
Maybe today you feel stuck. You have tried everything you know to break free from a struggle or burden, but nothing has worked. This is your reminder to turn to what truly has power. It is not political power, wealth, or human strength that saves. It is the blood of Jesus.
Ask God today to cover your life, your home, and your heart with His redeeming blood. Trust that what He has done through Christ is enough to free you, restore you, and carry you forward into the life He has promised. When you turn to the blood, you turn to the very heart of God’s rescue plan for you.
