Worship While You Wait
"Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, 'To your offspring I will give this land.' So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him." - Genesis 12:7
Faith isn’t just about believing God’s promises. It’s about worshiping Him while you wait for those promises to come to pass. Abram understood this. Every time he made progress on his journey, he built an altar to worship God. He didn’t wait until everything was perfect. He didn’t wait until he saw the full fulfillment of what God promised. He worshiped in the process.
It’s easy to praise God when everything is going right. When you finally see the doors opening, the blessings pouring in, and the dreams coming true. But what about the in-between moments? What about the seasons when you’re taking steps of faith but haven’t yet seen the results?
Abram was traveling through unfamiliar territory. He left everything he knew behind, trusting God to lead him to a place he had never seen. And yet, he paused to build altars and worship along the way. His faith wasn’t just about the destination. It was about acknowledging God’s presence with him on the journey.
Sometimes, we get so focused on the promise that we forget to worship the Promise-Giver. We get caught up in waiting for the breakthrough, the healing, or the open door, and we miss the beauty of encountering God right where we are. But the truth is, worship invites God’s presence into your process. It keeps your heart aligned with His even when you’re still waiting for things to work out.
What if you chose to worship while you wait? What if you decided that no matter what happens, you’re going to honor God, trust Him, and praise Him even when the promise feels distant? That’s the kind of faith Abram had. It wasn’t just faith in God’s ability to deliver on His word, it was faith in God’s presence along the way.
Don’t wait for the promise to arrive before you worship. Build your altar now. Thank God now. Praise Him now. Because worship is what will sustain you on your journey. And when the promise finally comes, you’ll know it was His presence that carried you through.
