Relying on God's Promises
"I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing." - Genesis 12:2
God never calls you to something without giving you a promise to hold onto. When He called Abram to leave everything he knew and step out into the unknown, God didn’t just send him out blindly. He gave him promises that would guide and strengthen him along the way.
God told Abram that if he obeyed, He would bless him like never before. Not just with material things, but with something far greater—a legacy that would impact generations. God promised to make him a great nation, to bless him, to make his name great, and to make him a blessing to others.
What’s powerful about this is that God’s promises weren’t just for Abram’s benefit. They were meant to be a blessing to others. “I will bless you… so that you will be a blessing.” It’s a reminder that when God pours into your life, it’s not just for you to hold on to. It’s meant to overflow and bless those around you.
But here’s the key: Abram had to trust God’s promises even before he saw them fulfilled. He had to walk by faith and not by sight. He had to rely on God’s word more than his own understanding. And because he did, God kept every single promise.
Maybe you’re at a point where you feel God calling you to something new, something bigger than you’ve ever imagined. And maybe it feels scary because you can’t see how it’s all going to work out. But the same God who made promises to Abram is making promises to you. Promises of guidance, protection, provision, and purpose.
If God has called you to something, He will provide everything you need to accomplish it. But you have to be willing to rely on His promises more than your own doubts. Because when God speaks, His word never fails.
So, what promises has God made to you? What dreams has He placed in your heart that feel too big to handle? Trust Him. His promises are more certain than your fears. And when you choose to walk in faith, you’ll see that His blessings are far greater than anything you could have imagined.
