Unity and Community
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." - Matthew 18:20
It’s amazing what people can overcome when they come together. When you think about some of the darkest times in history, you find that unity and community were what helped people survive and thrive. No matter how much the world tried to divide them, their commitment to building community was stronger.
God designed us to walk through life together. We were never meant to face struggles and hardships alone. In the book of Joshua, when the Israelites crossed the Jordan River, God instructed them to place stones as a memorial of how He brought them through. This act of remembrance wasn’t just for themselves. It was for their children and future generations, a way of saying, “We made it over because God was with us and because we stood together.”
In life, division is one of the enemy’s most powerful tactics. It’s easy to be torn apart by differences, whether it’s by social status, education, family backgrounds, or even personal beliefs. But God calls us to something greater. He calls us to be united in Him.
Think about your own life. The moments when you felt the most encouraged and empowered probably weren’t when you were isolated and trying to fight through your struggles alone. It was when you had people walking alongside you, lifting you up, praying for you, and reminding you of God’s faithfulness.
If you feel like you’re facing something too big to overcome, remember you don’t have to do it alone. Reach out. Find people who will walk with you, encourage you, and pray for you. And be that same kind of person for someone else.
God has called us to be a community of believers, standing together in faith, lifting each other up, and making sure no one has to walk through their struggles alone. Let’s commit to forming true, Christ-centered community that helps us all make it over.
