The Price of Your Freedom
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed." - 1 Peter 2:24
On this day, over two thousand years ago, the weight of the world’s sin was placed upon the shoulders of Jesus. Betrayed, beaten, mocked, and nailed to a cross, He endured suffering beyond what we can comprehend. And yet, as painful as the physical agony was, it was not the nails that held Him there, it was love. Love for you. Love for me. Love that would go to the very depths of suffering to bring us freedom.
Good Friday is the day we remember the cost of that freedom. Every sin, every failure, every chain that held you captive was carried by Jesus to the cross. He bore the punishment that should have been ours, taking on the weight of sin so that we could be released from its grip. The bondage that once defined you? He broke it. The shame that tried to keep you bound? He carried it. The sin that separated you from God? He erased it.
Now, will you walk in the freedom He died to give you? Too often, we live as though the cross was not enough. We carry burdens He already lifted. We stay trapped in shame when He has already forgiven us. We live as if we are still bound when He has set us free. But Jesus did not suffer and die for you to stay chained to what He already conquered.
As He hung on that cross, His final words rang out: It is finished. The price has been paid. The work has been done. Your freedom is secured.
So today, as you reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus, do not just remember it, receive it. Don’t just acknowledge it, walk in it. You are no longer a prisoner of sin, shame, or fear. You are redeemed, restored, and released.
Because of the cross, you are free. Now live like it!
