What Got You Here Won’t Get You There
"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" - Isaiah 43:19
There comes a moment in life when you realize that the way you have been doing things is not enough to get you where you need to go. You have been coasting on certain habits, relying on familiar routines, and holding on to mindsets that worked in the past. But now they are no longer enough. You feel stuck, caught between what was and what could be, knowing that God is calling you to something greater, yet uncertain of how to step into it.
Jacob faced this same moment. He knew God had more for him, that his current situation was not his final destination. But before he could step into his future, he had to confront himself. He had spent years operating in deception, manipulation, and self-preservation, and while those tactics had gotten him through life up until that point, they would not get him to the place God was calling him. He had to change.
Maybe you are at an inflection point in your own life. The patterns, relationships, and habits that got you here are not enough to get you to the next level. The mindset that allowed you to survive one season is not the one that will help you thrive in the next. God is calling you higher, but you cannot step into new places with old ways of thinking.
This is where many people get stuck. Instead of adjusting, they cling to what is familiar. Instead of breaking cycles, they repeat them. Instead of embracing the changes God is prompting, they resist. And because of that, they never move forward.
If you want to go where God is leading, you have to ask yourself: What needs to change? What habits are holding you back? What attitudes need to shift? What relationships are no longer aligned with where God is taking you? If you are serious about stepping into what He has for you, you cannot keep going on like this.
God is doing something new. But the question is, are you willing to grow into the person who can receive it? What got you here will not get you there. If you want to step into the next level, it is time to let go of what is keeping you stuck.
