When It’s Time to Go
"Then the Lord said to Jacob, 'Return to the land of your fathers and to your kindred, and I will be with you.'" - Genesis 31:3
When you read the story of Jacob, you find that he spent years in a place that was never meant to be his final destination. He had been mistreated, manipulated, and taken advantage of by his father-in-law, Laban. But one day, God spoke to him and made it clear: his season of tolerating that treatment was over. It was time to go.
Maybe you have felt that before. That deep sense that where you are is not where you are meant to stay. That God has more for you. More to do professionally. More to experience spiritually. More to enjoy personally. More to walk into relationally. That was exactly where Jacob was when God first spoke to him in a dream. He saw a vision of a ladder reaching from earth to heaven, and God promised that He would bless him, protect him, and fulfill His purpose for his life.
Jacob did not know exactly how or when it would happen, but he knew that staying in the same place forever was not an option. And when the time came, God made it clear. He told Jacob it was time to return home.
Sometimes, God speaks the same way to you. He lets you know when a season is over. He stirs something in your heart, making you realize that you are worth more than the way people have been treating you. That you do not have to keep putting up with manipulation, disrespect, or mistreatment. That it is time to step into something new.
God does not call you forward without a purpose. He does not move you from one season to another without a plan. When He says it is time to go, He is leading you toward something greater. The question is, will you listen? Will you trust Him enough to leave what is familiar, even when you do not know exactly what is next?
If God is calling you forward, do not stay stuck in a place you were never meant to remain. When He says it is time to go, go. And trust that wherever He is leading, He will be with you every step of the way.
