Your Opportunity Is for a Season
"And if it bears fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.” - Luke 13:9
As we continue to look at the parable of the barren fig tree, I want to talk about something important. See, the gardener saw potential in the tree and pleaded for more time to cultivate it. But there is something you can’t miss here: the extra time wasn’t indefinite.
He asked for one more year, just one more season for the tree to turn things around. The message is clear: opportunities don’t last forever. God may give you another chance, but there’s a sense of urgency attached to it. You don’t have all the time in the world to get it together.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you can deal with things later. You might say to yourself, “I’ll get my finances together someday,” or “I’ll start taking my health seriously next month.” But there are some things that can’t wait. There are changes in your life that need to happen now, not later. You have an opportunity to grow, to improve, and to become who God created you to be, but it’s time-sensitive.
Maybe you’ve been putting off a change that you know is necessary. It could be in your relationships, your habits, or your spiritual life. Whatever it is, now is the time to address it. Don’t wait until tomorrow to start living the life God has called you to live. You don’t have forever to stop wasting time or to cut out the things that are holding you back.
Think of this as your season to level up. The chance you have right now may not come again. Whether it’s getting your health in check, being a better spouse or parent, or making time for prayer and reading the Word, this is your moment. Don’t wait another year, another month, or even another day. Take the steps now to become more productive, more faithful, and more aligned with God’s will.
The opportunity is before you—what will you do with it?
