Keep Building
"Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce."- Jeremiah 29:5
When you’re in a season of waiting, it’s easy to feel stuck. You may feel like you’re just biding time, waiting for the next thing to happen, the breakthrough to come, or for life to get better. It can be tempting to put everything on pause and say, “I’ll get back to building my life once this is over.” But God doesn’t want you to put your life on hold while you’re waiting.
In Jeremiah 29:5, God told the exiled Israelites to build homes and plant gardens, even while they were in a foreign land. They were far from home, their lives had been uprooted, and they were living in uncertainty, but God still called them to invest in their future. He didn’t want them to wait until everything was perfect to start living again. And He doesn’t want you to wait, either.
It’s easy to think that you can’t make progress until your circumstances change. Maybe you’re facing financial struggles, relationship issues, or waiting for a major life event to happen. But God’s message to the Israelites is the same message to you today: Keep building. Keep investing in your future. Even if life isn’t what you expected or hoped for right now, you can still make progress.
This means taking practical steps to grow, even in the middle of uncertainty. Maybe it’s time to start that project you’ve been putting off or to take steps toward that goal you’ve been too discouraged to pursue. It could be as simple as strengthening the relationships in your life, focusing on your health, or working on personal development. Whatever it is, don’t wait for perfect conditions. God is telling you that you can grow and build even in the middle of hardship.
Building structurally means taking action, even when you don’t have all the answers. It’s about planting seeds in faith, knowing that God is still with you, even in the waiting. Maybe you’re unsure how things will turn out, but God’s instruction is clear.
Don’t let discouragement stop you from planting new seeds. Don’t let fear convince you that your future has to be on hold. God is still working in your life, and He wants you to keep growing structurally—building your dreams, nurturing your relationships, and investing in what matters most. You may be in the waiting, but there is still hope, and there is still progress to be made.
