Resting in God’s Comfort
“As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.” - Joshua 1:5
Life can sometimes feel like a series of ups and downs, and it’s easy to feel alone when you’re in the midst of a difficult season. But imagine hearing God say directly to you, “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you.”
That’s exactly what He told Joshua as he was preparing to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. This promise wasn’t just for Joshua; it’s for you, too. It’s God’s assurance that He will be with you, no matter what you face. And that’s the kind of comfort that can sustain you through anything.
The Bible is full of moments where God reassured His people of His presence. When Moses was called to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, God told him, “I will be with you.” When the Israelites were on the brink of the Promised Land, God told them, “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear... for it is the LORD your God who goes with you.” And in the New Testament, Jesus made it clear to His disciples, “I am with you always, even until the end of the age.” These aren’t just empty words; they’re promises you can hold onto.
But maybe you’ve been in a season where it feels like those promises are delayed. Joshua knew what that was like. He was one of the spies who scouted out the Promised Land, yet it took 40 years before he saw that promise fulfilled.
In those years, Joshua could have given up, but he didn’t. He held onto the belief that God was still with him, even when the promise seemed distant. That’s a lesson for you, too. Just because something hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it won’t. God’s timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with your own.
Joshua’s story reminds you that disappointments in your past don’t dictate your future. Delays don’t mean denials. Just because God hasn’t done it yet doesn’t mean He won’t. The key is to trust in His presence, knowing that He is with you through every high and low, every victory and setback. His promise to be with you is the comfort you need to keep going, to keep believing, and to keep trusting.
