Empowered Through Adoption
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus and are faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. - Ephesians 1:1-3
I recently read an article about retired Americans who spent their time volunteering in needy parts of the world, particularly at orphanages. One woman's story stood out: she dedicated herself to caring for neglected, handicapped children in Romania. Her love and care not only impacted these children deeply but also made many of them prime candidates for adoption.
This act of adoption through love and care mirrors a core concept that the Apostle Paul writes about to the church in Ephesus. In a city filled with witchcraft and fascinated by supernatural power, Paul spent years teaching them about the surpassing power of God over all other forces. He emphasized that God's power was superior to any form of evil or demonic influence they might encounter.
From his prison cell, Paul reminds them that their newfound faith in Christ had brought them into a family where they were adopted as children of God. This adoption wasn't based on their background or achievements but on God's grace and love. Paul wanted them to grasp that God's power, working through their faith in Christ, would sustain them through trials and enable them to live victorious lives.
Just as those volunteers empowered orphaned children through love and care, God empowers believers through adoption into His family. This empowerment isn't just for a chosen few; it's available to all who accept Christ. God's love and power transform lives, giving us hope and a future, regardless of our past or circumstances.
Are you experiencing God's empowering love in your life? Reflect on how God has blessed you with spiritual blessings and consider how His power is at work within you today. Embrace your identity as a child of God, empowered to live a life that honors Him.
