Let it Go
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." - Jeremiah 29:11
Do you remember the Frozen craze that swept through households with little ones over five years ago? The movie, the merchandise, and the endless singing of the iconic anthem "Let it Go"…it's all etched in the memories of parents who became unwitting experts on all things Frozen. Yet, beyond the catchy tunes and captivating storyline, there's a powerful message that resonates even now.
Elsa, the protagonist, struggles with embracing her own power. She hides away, afraid to let others see the unique abilities within her. It's a narrative many of us can relate to – the fear of shining too brightly, the hesitation to fully embrace the gifts and talents bestowed upon us by our Creator.
Living in isolation, Elsa inadvertently stifled the growth and flourishing of everything around her. Her refusal to recognize and honor her inner power not only affected her but impacted the entire world she inhabited. It's a powerful metaphor for how our reluctance to operate in our God-given potential can have far-reaching consequences.
Yet, there's a turning point in Elsa's story, a moment of realization that she is special and unique. In that moment, she chooses to let go of her fears, doubts, and past embarrassments. She decides to live into her full self, embracing her abilities and declaring freedom from the restrictions that held her captive since childhood.
This powerful transformation is encapsulated in the anthem "Let it Go." The song resonated not only with children but with adults across the country. And within its lyrics lies a universal truth, we can't walk in the purpose and power God has for us until we learn to let go.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God has plans for our welfare, not for evil, to give us a future and a hope. Yet, to walk into that future, we must release the burdens that weigh us down. We must let go of self-doubt, fear of judgment, and the limitations we place on ourselves.
As we recall those car rides with little ones singing "Let it Go" at the top of their lungs, let's internalize the message. Just like Elsa, may we have the courage to embrace our uniqueness, let go of hindrances, and step into the purpose and power God has destined for us.
