Words About God
"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." - Proverbs 18:21
In moments of pain, disappointment, or confusion, it's not uncommon for people to utter words that cast a shadow on their relationship with God. Phrases like "the Lord has forgotten about me," "Why did God let this happen to me?" or "God has abandoned me," may slip from our lips. But today, I challenge you to watch what you say about God.
Your words hold immense power, and when it comes to speaking about God, that power is magnified. When you express doubt or negativity about God's presence or care in your life, it's essential to recognize the implications of such speech.
Speaking negatively about God can erode your faith. Doubt, if left unchecked, can grow and overshadow the truth of God's love and sovereignty. Remember that God's ways are beyond our comprehension, and His love is unwavering, even in the midst of trials.
Not only do your words about God affect your faith, but your words about God are also a witness to others. When you express doubt or frustration openly, it may influence those around you, leading them to question their own faith or view of God. Conversely, when you speak positively about God's goodness, even in difficult times, you become a beacon of hope and encouragement to others.
Instead of questioning God's presence or care, turn to Him in prayer and seek His understanding. Pour out your heart honestly, but also express your trust that He is working, even in the midst of your challenges. Psalm 34:18 assures us, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
When you face adversity, remember that God is not the source of your pain but the source of your strength and comfort. Instead of blaming Him, seek His guidance and seek to understand the lessons and growth opportunities in your trials.
Friend, I want to encourage you to let your speech reflect your reverence and trust in Him. Even when circumstances seem bleak, choose to say, "I trust You, Lord, even in this difficult season." Your words of faith can become a powerful testimony of God's grace and faithfulness.
Remember the significance of your words about God. Watch what you say, not out of fear, but out of love and trust. Choose to speak words that honor Him, even in the face of adversity, and let your speech be a testament to your unwavering faith in His goodness and love.
