Breaking Free: From Temporary Pleasure to Eternal Reward
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 6:23
Sin, often disguised as temporary pleasure, can place heavy shackles on our lives. It promises satisfaction and joy, yet it leaves us empty, broken, and distant from God. The bondage of sin can hold us back from experiencing the fullness of life and the eternal rewards that God desires for us.
Sin’s allure can be powerful, enticing us with immediate gratification and momentary delight. However, the pleasure it offers is fleeting and ultimately leads to spiritual death. It creates a barrier between us and God, hindering our relationship with Him and our growth in faith.
God, in His infinite love and mercy, offers us a way out of this bondage. Through Jesus Christ, He provides forgiveness for our sins and freedom from their chains. He invites us to turn away from temporary pleasures and to seek the eternal rewards that only He can give.
These eternal rewards include peace with God, the assurance of His presence, the joy of His salvation, and the promise of eternal life. They far outweigh any temporary pleasure that sin can offer. They satisfy our deepest longings and fulfill our greatest needs.
Choosing God’s eternal rewards over temporary pleasure requires a daily decision to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus (Luke 9:23). It involves seeking God’s kingdom first (Matthew 6:33), setting our minds on things above (Colossians 3:2), and walking by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16).
As we dwell on these truths in Scripture, let’s choose to break free from the bondage of sin and its temporary pleasures. Let’s pursue the eternal rewards that God offers us through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Let’s remember that while sin promises much, it delivers little. In contrast, God promises abundant life now and eternal life to come; and He always delivers. So today, I hope you’ll act on the desire to break free from the shackles of sin. Choose God’s eternal rewards over temporary pleasure. Experience the freedom and fulfillment that only He can provide.

I have asked God to please keep me living in my own section 8 apartment till the day I die so I can continue to wake up very early in the morning and spend time listening to the Rosary and listening to Mass and doing other religious things every day.
