Resting in God: The Ultimate Peace
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” - Matthew 11:28
In our fast-paced world, rest often seems elusive. We hustle, we strive, we push, and yet true rest seems just out of reach. But there’s a type of rest that the world cannot offer—a rest that comes from God alone.
Resting in God is not about physical relaxation or even mental calm. It’s about spiritual tranquility, a deep-seated peace that transcends all understanding. It’s about surrendering our worries, fears, and struggles to God and trusting Him to carry them for us.
Resting in God means letting go of our need to control and allowing God to take the reins. It means trusting in His wisdom, His timing, and His goodness, even when circumstances are challenging. It means believing that He is working all things together for our good, even when we can’t see it.
Resting in God also means finding contentment in His presence. It means delighting in His love, rejoicing in His grace, and finding satisfaction in His provision. It means drawing near to Him and allowing Him to fill us with His peace.
With all of this in mind, let’s strive to rest in God. Let’s cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). Let’s trust in His promises and find peace in His presence. And let’s remember that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31).
Even when life is hectic and burdensome, remember to rest in God. For in His presence, there is fullness of joy and at His right hand, there are pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11).
