Prioritizing God Amidst Busyness
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” - Matthew 6:33
In our fast-paced world, busyness often becomes a barrier to making God our top priority. However, even amidst the hustle and bustle, we can still keep God at the center of our lives. Here are some strategies to help us do so.
Making God our top priority amidst busyness is not about doing more but about inviting Him into all aspects of our lives. It’s about recognizing His presence in every moment and seeking His guidance in every decision. Even when life gets busy, remember to seek first His kingdom and righteousness, and all other things will fall into place.
In our fast-paced world, busyness often becomes a barrier to making God our top priority. However, even amidst the hustle and bustle, we can still keep God at the center of our lives. Here are some strategies to help us do so.
- Start Your Day with God: Make it a habit to spend time with God first thing in the morning. This could be through prayer, reading the Bible, or meditating on His Word. Starting your day with God sets the tone for the rest of the day and helps you keep Him at the forefront of your mind.
- Practice Constant Prayer: 1 Thessalonians 5:17 encourages us to “pray without ceasing.” This doesn’t mean we have to spend every moment in formal prayer, but rather maintain constant communication with God throughout the day. Share your thoughts, worries, and joys with Him as you would with a close friend.
- Use Reminders: Set reminders on your phone or post sticky notes around your workspace to remind you to focus on God. These could be Bible verses, prayer prompts, or even simple phrases like “God is with me.”
- Serve Others: Serving others is a practical way to prioritize God. It’s an act of love towards Him and a reflection of His love for us. Look for opportunities to serve in your community, workplace, or church.
- Rest in Him: Even Jesus took time to rest and connect with His Father. Make sure to set aside time each week for rest and spiritual rejuvenation.
