Is God Your Ultimate Priority?
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” - Deuteronomy 6:5
In our journey of faith, God often tests us to see if He is our ultimate priority. These tests are not meant to trip us up or set us up for failure. Instead, they are designed to reveal the true condition of our hearts and to draw us closer to Him.
God’s tests often come in the form of choices. We may have to choose between pursuing worldly success or following God’s will. We may have to decide whether to hold on to our possessions or to give generously as God commands. We may have to choose between pleasing people or pleasing God.
These choices reveal where our true allegiance lies. If we choose God over everything else, it shows that He is our ultimate priority. It shows that we love Him more than anything else and that we are willing to surrender everything for His sake.
However, making God our ultimate priority is not always easy. It requires sacrifice. It requires letting go of our desires and plans. It requires trusting in God’s promises even when circumstances are challenging.
But when we make God our ultimate priority, we experience His blessings in a profound way. We find joy and satisfaction that the world cannot offer. We experience peace that surpasses understanding. We gain a sense of purpose and direction that gives meaning to our lives.
I would encourage you, if you’re not already, to strive to make God our ultimate priority. My hope is that you will choose Him over everything else, trusting that He knows what’s best for you. Remember that those who seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness will have all their needs met (Matthew 6:33). So even when the test is challenging, choose God, for He is worth more than anything this world can offer.
