The Cost of Impatience
“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.” - Psalms 37:7
In our fast-paced world, waiting can often feel like a waste of time. We are conditioned to seek instant gratification, and when things don’t happen as quickly as we’d like, we are tempted to take matters into our own hands. However, not waiting on God can have serious consequences.
When we choose not to wait on God, we essentially step outside of His will. We decide that our timing is better than His, and in doing so, we miss out on the blessings that come from trusting in His perfect timing. We may end up settling for less than God’s best for us or find ourselves in situations that could have been avoided had we waited on God.
Not waiting on God can also lead to unnecessary stress and anxiety. When we try to control things that are beyond our control, we carry burdens that were never meant for us to bear. This can lead to burnout, frustration, and a sense of hopelessness.
Additionally, not waiting on God can hinder our spiritual growth. Waiting is a crucial part of our faith journey. It’s during the waiting periods that we learn to trust God more deeply, to surrender our desires to Him, and to find contentment in His presence. When we bypass the waiting process, we miss out on these valuable lessons.
While waiting on God can be challenging, the consequences of not waiting are far greater. Let’s choose to trust in God’s timing, even when it doesn’t align with ours. Let’s remember that His ways are higher than ours and that He works all things together for our good. And let’s rest in the assurance that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength and soar on wings like eagles.
