Growing While Waiting on God
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” - Isaiah 40:31
Waiting is often seen as a passive state, a time of inactivity where we are simply biding our time until something happens. But in God’s economy, waiting is far from passive. It’s a time of preparation, growth, and deepening of faith. It’s a time when God is working behind the scenes in ways that only He can.
When we find ourselves in a season of waiting, it’s crucial to remember that this is not a time to be wasted. It’s a time to grow in our faith and in our personal lives. It’s a time to delve deeper into God’s Word, strengthen our prayer life, and serve others with love and humility. It’s a time to develop the fruits of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
As we wait on God, we are given the opportunity to grow in ways we couldn’t otherwise. We learn to trust God more deeply as we see Him provide for our needs. We learn to be patient as we wait for His perfect timing. We learn to be content in whatever circumstances we find ourselves in.
Moreover, as we wait on God, we are being prepared for what’s to come. Just as a farmer waits for the harvest after planting the seeds and tending the crops, so we too are being prepared for the harvest that God has in store for us. The growth that happens during the waiting period is essential for us to be ready for what God is going to do next.
