Don’t Put God in a Box
"Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!" - Romans 11:33
Have you ever tried to fit God into a box? Have you ever tried to confine Him to your understanding or limit Him to what you think He can do? It's easy to fall into this trap, but the truth is that God is far bigger and more powerful than we can ever imagine. In fact, the Bible tells us that His ways and thoughts are higher than ours.
Romans 11:33 reminds us of this truth, "Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!" The truth is, we will never fully understand the depth of God's wisdom and knowledge. He is infinite and beyond our human comprehension.
When we try to put God in a box, we limit His power in our lives. We miss out on the blessings He has in store for us and the miracles He can perform. Instead, we must trust in His sovereignty and believe that He can do infinitely more than we could ever dream or imagine.
One example of someone who understood the greatness of God was Job. Job experienced tremendous loss and suffering, yet he never stopped believing in God's sovereignty. In Job 42:2-3, he says, "I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you. You asked, 'Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?' It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me."
Job recognized that God's ways were far beyond his understanding. He didn't try to put God in a box, but instead, he trusted in His goodness and sovereignty. As a result, God restored Job's fortunes and blessed him more than he could have ever imagined.
Let's not limit God in our lives by trying to put Him in a box. Instead, let's trust in His sovereignty and believe that He can do infinitely more than we could ever dream or imagine. When we do, we open ourselves up to the blessings and miracles He has in store for us.
