Draw Near
“Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” - James 4:8
Did you know that God has an amazing plan for your life? You might be saying, “Pastor, you don’t know who I am. You don’t know what I’ve done. God doesn’t have big plans for me.
You are right about one thing, I might not know who you are, but I do know God has so much more for you than you are currently experiencing. God wants to do amazing things in and through you. We see this all throughout Scripture.
God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. But in order for Him to do this in our lives, we must continue to grow in our faith and walk with Him. Yesterday, we talked about “updating your operating system.”
Like a smartphone, you must continue to update yourself and grow in your relationship with Christ if you want to experience all that He has for you. How do you update your operating system? You draw near to the Designer.
James 4:8 says, “Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
When we aren’t growing, it is usually a result of not being as close to God as we once were. This is a simple fix: draw near to Him. Spend time with God. Spend time in prayer talking to Him and spend time in His Word allowing Him to speak to you.
How much time are you spending with the Designer? God wants to work in and through you, but He can’t do that if you aren’t willing to “update” your software. When is the last time you took time out of your day to draw near to God?
When you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you. That is when He can reveal to you where He wants you to grow and all that He wants to accomplish in your life!
