Chase “The Great”
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” - Galatians 6:9
When you choose to delay gratification and give up what seems “good” in the moment, you will earn eternal rewards. What God wants to give you isn’t just “good,” it’s GREAT. It’s the BEST.
God has the very best in store for every one of His children who are willing to follow Him. What we must understand is that God’s best is rarely immediate. When you turn down what might seem good in a moment, that does not mean God will immediately reward you with the GREAT.
Have you seen those TikTok videos of someone who goes to the grocery store and asks someone to buy them a candy bar or water bottle? They just want to see if the person will be selfless enough to buy them one little thing, and if they pass the test, the person gives them hundreds or sometimes even thousands of dollars.
This is an amazing concept and a very kind act. But it is rarely how God works. Yet so many of us think that is how He will work. “Well God, I didn’t do drugs for a week, when you are going to give me that promotion?”
Or “God they tried to get me to steal that $100 dollar bill laying on the table, but I didn’t. So can you bless me with an unexpected check from somewhere?” I hate to tell you this, but it just doesn’t work that way. And we cannot manipulate God into blessing us.
God wants to see if you will continue to obey Him and continue to give up the good to chase the great. That is what the Christian life is about.
Will you give up what this world considers “good” to chase “the great” God has for you? If you do, God will bless you beyond your wildest imagination. It isn’t instant, but it is worth it. Be patient and give up the good as you chase the great!
