Live and Prosper
“Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” - Deuteronomy 5:33
When you follow the pathway God has created for you, He holds responsibility for your life. As we previously discussed, when you are obedient to God, and you look forward to what He has ahead for your life, He will protect you.
What God promises is that when we obey His commands, we will 1) live and 2) prosper. Deuteronomy 5:33 tells us this when it says, “Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.”
The first thing God promises is that we will live. And while this may not seem like much, remember, none of us are promised tomorrow. Every day is a gift from God. Just as easily as He gave you life, He can take it away. And when He is finished with the work inside of us, our time on earth will come to an end.
We don’t know when that is, but we must stay proactive in living obediently for Him. This also means we will prosper. That means we will experience life more abundantly. Will everything be perfect? No. Will we receive everything that we want? No. But we will experience everything that we need and we will find fulfillment in the gift of giving.
If you want your life to be more purposeful and find more fulfillment, obey God. He will take care of everything else!
