THE Book
“For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” - Hebrews 4:12-13
“Success” is the category that sells more books than any other in the United States. Americans spend tens of millions of dollars a year on books designed to help them improve and be a success in just about every area of life imaginable.
People want to be successful in sales, business, weight loss, relationships, money-making, you name it. Everyone wants success. And while all of that is fine, as believers, we don’t need to turn to Amazon or go to Barnes & Noble to find guidance on success.
We have a guide in the Word of God. Success is defined as the attainment of an aim or the achievement of a purpose. And it is in the pages of Scripture that God gives us guidance on how to achieve our ultimate purpose in life.
God shows us how to be successful and do it His way. While we cannot be God, we are expected to be like God. The Bible says we are made in the image and likeness of God. Paul said that we are to be imitators of Christ, and to do everything as unto the Lord. That means that in everything that we do, we ought to do our best.
And if we do that, we will be successful. The Bible gives us all the secrets we need regarding how to be truly successful. And while we will unpack that idea over the next few days, I want to start with this question: Why do we turn everywhere but to Scripture to find ways to be successful?
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
We will read books, talk to “gurus,” and watch YouTube videos. We will find motivational videos or quotes. But we neglect the book that can give us the real answers. Stop looking in all the wrong places. It’s not in those books. It’s in THE Book.
If you want to be successful, look to Scripture.
